544 students of Enugu State varsity expelled over illegal admission

The Public Relations Director of the Enugu State University of Science and Technology, ESUT, Mr. Ossy Ugwuoti yesterday announced the explusion of 544 students of the university who allegedly gained admission into the tertiary institution illegally.

Mr. Ugwuoti said the Senate of the university observed that “the students who cut across various faculties and departments had secured admission illegally into the university.

“The ESUT Senate has, therefore, directed the affected students who are at their various years of study to stop participating in all school activities, return all ESUT materials in their possession and vacate the university premises immediately.”

He also added that the university will not hesitate to arrest and prosecute any of the affected students found in the campus.

The Universities Senate also said names of the “illegal students” had been forwarded to the police for necessary action.

The Senate, which described the illegal admission as criminal and a breach of the university’s rules and regulations, however, urged the affected students willing to disclose sources of their admission to do so in writing and submit same to the office of the Dean of Students Affairs.
The statement was, however, silent on whether any official of the university involved in the admission scam had been fished out or sanctioned.

  1. It’s a pity but this development also calls for attention on the part of the affected students to wait for their time and stop wasting their time, money and efforts in the course of seeking admission with fake results. Rather, they should try doing the right thing and at the right time granted that it is not yet over until it is over.

  2. d senate shud not hezitat 4 arest bcuz what led 2 dis tregedy event must b frm 1 of d lectureres.
if thorough investigation is taking grand, many lecturers $ som preminent men in d institution we b found guity.
mr. senate of ESSUT’s dnt try 2 distroyed d carear of dis student. in what soever dey might gain admision into d sch, let dem b, its bcuz d sch lack compitent 2 check student’s admision b4 lectures begings.

  3. We need 2 ask some questions here! Do dis pple participate i Jamb? If yes does de have der admission latter printed out from Jamb website? If yes! I don’t think d versity has d right 2 expelled dem except de don’t have dis things mentioned above! & if de don’t! Am sorry 4 dem. So go back 2 d drawing bod, how u guys gain ur admission & fight ur right he propely done! All d best.

  4. But how can sbd gets admission with a fake result and remain undisturbed without making move to remedy it! It’s like building a castle on the air. If you maneouvre the school, what about the job you’ll secure in future, will they not screen ur results. So I blame the students especially those in final year. I never know of where the result one used to secure admission is a prerequisite for getting job, the major criteria is the authenticity.

  5. I’m beggin d senate to pls tamper justic wit mercy pls..those students have spent much year, tym, money pls…let it be towards avoidin its repeatation in futur but pls consider what wil be the state of those students in such a frustrated condition. I’m just pleadin

  6. It is good i can’t say it’s bad but the thing is that the students did not jump into the school on their own if so the lecturers involve should be pointed out as well if not they will keep doing it and causing harm to the student. I just wish this can be done in all the universities in nigeria so that students who merit admission would be granted admission and not ask to pay a sum of money which if the student don’t have he/she will not be given admission. Good work keep it up and expose the evil over admission.

  7. D senate should calmly investicate dis mata 4 gud observatn. It’s annoyin dat d yrs dis students have spend are al waste, al dis pains re caused by inadqaute selection of students who re meritd. Nd dis unconvinience can only stop by stopping d collection of bribe b4 adm. By individuals nd lecturer. My co students i feel ur grieviancies but accept my condolence nd try again n a beta way.

  8. I hereby plead on bhalf of d stdents involve dat justice shud b tampered wit mercy. Let d senate pardon dez students n work hard to avoid such in d future unless d lecturers involve are al prosecuted as wel bcoz, dez stdents did neida screen nor admit demselves. If corruptn is to b stopped, is frm d leaders nd nt doz dat are being lead. GOD BLESS ESUT

  9. aiya it a pit.the question is “who gave them the admission” we are surrounded by corruption. Nigeria is corrupt, there is no doubt abt that.our leaders are to be blamed, why wont there be fake admission when there is no admission without “follow up”meaning “BRIBE” most of the corruption we face now is in schools why because of the so call introduction of post ume/aptitude test.imagine a student scoring above 240 in Jamb u end up not gaining admission even in your cashmere areas. why because u didn’t follow up/Bribe. may be by nest year jamb may sell their forms at the rate of 10,000.00.what a wicked world.Anyway i sympathies with the students who fell victims, pls accept my sympathy.i would have preferred speaking to the public through a TV station.what is not good is not good thank you
