The Delta State Police Command has arrested an un-named serving police officer for allegedly being behind the blackmail of a Warri hotel manager in whose hotel a lady allegedly turned into a snake.
The un-named officer attached to Ekpan Police Station was assisting the police in their investigation to unravel the allegation of recruiting faceless persons to blackmail Hotel Excel situated at Effurun, near Warri, Delta State.
The Proprietor of the Hotel, Chief Moses Odeh, wondered why people should be so callous to spread the rumour of a lady turning into boa, describing it as a calculated attempt to discredit his person and the hotel.
He recalled that only recently, a rumour was falsely and maliciously spread that the hotel proprietor had died in mysterious circumstance after a policeman guarding his hotel shot dead a boa, which in turn changed to him before he allegedly died in an hospital.
The news that a lady allegedly turned into a snake in Warri quickly went viral on the social networking sites twitter and Facebook.
“When I heard of the news, I was shocked. I started receiving calls from different parts of Nigeria and abroad. I had to go to Delta Broadcasting Service to broadcast to the people that nothing like that happened. It was the handiwork of competitors, who see Hotel Excel as a threat,” Chief Odeh said.
While expressing deep shock over the recent event that occurred on Valentine’s day, the hotelier therefore described the rumour that a lady turned into half human and half snake as a wicked, malicious and unfounded.
