SENIOR MECHANICAL ENGINEER

Location: Port Harcourt

SERVICE DIMENSIONS
– Specify the processes, equipment and techniques for: Turbo-machines, compressors, diesel and gas motors, pumps, valves, winches, filters, hoses, and mechanical equipment in general
– Study and draw up maintenance programmes, taking safety and protection of the environment into consideration, and optimising costs and lead times
– Draw up specifications for some modifications in connection with the installation process
– Evaluate the capacities of the surface installations for the purpose of maintenance plans
– Analyse the operating parameters for optimising the maintenance

ACTIVITIES
– Provide technical support to the Head Mechanical Maintenance for rotating and static mechanical equipment. Acts as the focal point for mechanical engineering matters, and provides expert technical advice to the Head Mechanical Maintenance and other departments
– Supervise the implementation of minor mechanical modifications and improvement projects, to ensure their safe, cost-effective and timely execution in accordance with established Company standards and specifications.
– Review and control the standardisation of materials and spare parts for mechanical equipment and related systems. Reviews stock quantities, usage and consumption to minimise the stock value, whilst ensuring that all spare parts are available for routine, defect and shutdown maintenance
– Assist the Maintenance Methods Engineers and the Head Mechanical Maintenance in the preparation of budgets, contracts, shutdowns, modifications, warranty claims, vendor mobilisation and all other support functions necessary for the efficient running of the mechanical section
– Create and supervise the condition monitoring. Troubleshoot complex or recurring mechanical problems, which require analysis and resolution with the help of other departments, vendors or original equipment manufacturers, and recommends sound and cost effective solutions
– Create Maintenance Equipment Log Book (MELB). Ensure that all drawings, plans, manual and MELB are up-to-date and “as built“, and directs draftsmen to carry out all corrections to reflect any alterations, modifications and additions to mechanical equipment systems
– Review and check work completed by contractors, ensures compliance with work satisfactorily completed, makes necessary corrections, and submits to the Maintenance Methods Engineer for endorsement and payment processing.

PROFILE OF TECHNICAL RESSOURCE
– Education: B.Sc. Mechanical Engineering
– Professional experience (number of years): 15-20 years experience with mechanical equipment preferably within the oil or petrochemical industries
– Computer literacy
– Fluent English mandatory
