According to eyewitnesses  the killers took the villagers unawares and disappeared immediately after the dastardly act .
By yesterday, hundreds of residents had fled the village and were now taking refuge in Makurdi, the state capital.
When contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Daniel Ezeala, a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) confirmed that the command had deployed troops to the area to stop further attacks.

This year, Fulani herdsmen had invaded villages in Benue State, killing hundreds of people and destroying several villages and farmlands.
Only a few months back, the dare-devil Fulani herdsmen invaded not less than 16 villages in Gwer West Local Government area of the state on a Sunday afternoon, killing the able-bodied men, women and children in an operation that lasted several hours.
This development and several others before now, made the House of Representatives to set up an ad hoc committee to look into the Tiv / Fulani crisis with a view to finding a lasting solution to the trend.

The committee which was chaired by Samson Osagie visited the affected villages in both Benue and Nassarawa states then for an on-the-spot assessment of the crises.

  1. Fulanis should be made to remain in their locality, there is no need of other ethnic groups accomodating them, because they keep increasing by days and afterwards, they will become automatic landlords and start dragging your ancestral home with you, which can never happen in their own place. Stupid and wicked people. Boko Harams.
