Rauf Aregbesola Receives Obasanjo As Former President Commissions Bola Ige Bust

Former president, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo was in Oshogbo, the Osun state capital on Monday, where he met with the state governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola as well as commissioned the bust of the late former Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Chief Bola Ige erected at the front gate of the Osun State Governor’s Office, Osogbo.

Chief Ige while serving as the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice during Obasanjo’s administration, was assassinated at his Bodija residence in Ibadan by yet to be identified gunmen in December 2001.

Chief Obasanjo, who led the delegation of Owu Development Foundation to Governor Rauf Aregbesola’s office, was in the state office over the selection process of the new traditional ruler of the town which has become a matter of litigation between the same family.

In his speech, governor Aregbesola who recalled his days at The Polytechnic, Ibadan as a students’ union activist led a protest against Chief Obasanjo during his visit to the institution as Head of State in 1978.

He described Chief Obasanjo as a rare personality not only in Nigeria but entire black race saying that it was a rare privilege for somebody to have rule Nigeria as a military and two terms as a president.

Governor Aregbesola also said he was equally privileged to receive Chief Obasanjo, a Peoples’ Democratic Party PDP leader in his office saying that for the seven and half years rule of Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola rule in the state, Obasanjo never visited him in his office.
