Djourou Shipped Off To Germany On Loan Till End Of Season

Djourou061115Out-of-favour Arsenal defender, Johan Djourou, has joined Bundesliga side, Hannover 96 on loan until the end of the season on Saturday.

The 25-year-old Swiss international who had made just two non-Premier League appearances for Arsene Wenger’s team this season, found himself down the pecking order after losing out to Thomas Vermaelen, Laurent Koscielny and Per Mertesacker in the battle for central defensive position.

Djourou has played 144 times for the Gunners since making his debut in a 2-1 League Cup victory against Manchester City in October 2004 but  a string of poor performances meant he was condemned to the reserves as he became a bit-part player in the main team set-up.

A statement on the Arsenal website read: “Everyone at Arsenal would like to wish Johan well for his time in Germany.”
