Damaturu Comes To Life Ahead Of Jonathan’s Visit

d950a4c48c218d95869ade928026e75bThe Ministry of Environment in Yobe State, Tuesday, embarked on an intensive cleaning exercise in Damaturu, ahead of President Goodluck Jonathan’s scheduled visit on Friday.

Areas expected to be visited by the president such as the ‘Red Bricks’ Housing Estate, the ultra-modern Damaturu Hospital and the State University are all wearing new looks.

The Commissioner for Environment, Alhaji Wakil Sarki, said that the ministry embarked on the exercise to add aesthetic value to the city.

The commssioner said: “We are using the newly procured sanitation equipment for a clean and healthy environment before, during and after Mr. President’s visit to the state.”

“The ministry recently engaged 600 casual workers for sanitation exercise, and we are also sensitising the populace on the need for clean and healthy environment.” (NAN)
