President Goodluck Jonathan has assured Nigerians of the federal government’s resolve to improve the quality of tertiary education in the country.
President Jonathan, who was represented by Vice President Namadi Sambo, stated this at the Ahmadu Bello University’s fundraising ceremonyweekend. The President said his government would establish mega universities to address admission constraints among Nigerians.
‘When established, each of the mega universities would absorb more than 200,000 students,’ Jonathan stressed.
The President also decried the growing number of Nigerian university admission seekers in the last three years which, he said, was about 1.5 million annually, even as he noted that the absorption capacity of the existing schools was about a quarter of the number.
I hope Mr President remembers to create ‘Mega’ job opportunities to absorb d subsequent graduates of these his universities.
TankU 4 Ur comment, we need mega job in this country.
The President should desist from establishing more universities; he should rather fund the existing ones, including the less than two years old Federal universities. By funding and equipping the existing universities, he may have empowered them take more admission-seeking Nigerian youths which is his purpose for establishing the mega universities.
I dont want to call d president a fool.
mr president shld establish industries of such capacity across d nation to address unemployment saga…mega universities would rada add to our unemployment problems, in otherwards..youth restiveness will be on d increase
