The people of Moon district had recently petitioned the authorities of the Nigeria Army over what they termed “persistent acts of aggression and unprovoked attacks on them by soldiers”.

LEADERSHIP gathered that the incident happened at about 10:00am yesterday when commercial activities was going on in Imande-Debam market situated in the area.

An eye witness who is also a victim of the incident, Dewua Mfaityo, told LEADERSHIP that while the market was on, about five trucks fully loaded with military men who were heavily armed appeared in the market and started brutalising the villagers who were helplessly running for their dear lives.

A leader of the community, Mr Abo Utah described the brutality as unwarranted and said that more than seven of his people are missing and wondered whether they were taken by the soldiers and or killed.
