Chief Ayo Opadokun, convener, Coalition of Democrats for Electoral Reform, has said President Goodluck Jonathan lacks the capability to fight corruption successfully.

While noting that the current administration lacked the commitment to fight corruption in the country, Opadokun said President Jonathan would be ‘committing political suicide’ if he ventured actively to confront the scourge of corruption.

Opadokun, who was speaking in an interview with reporters in Ilorin on Tuesday, also expressed dismay with the Federal Government for not fully addressing the issues surrounding the alleged mismanagement of $60bn by a former Minister of Education, Dr. Oby Ezekwesili.

He said, “I don’t believe President Jonathan can fight corruption. I am not saying this for the first time. I have been very straightforward and consistent about my position. I have no doubt in my mind that the factor that produced him is corruption-soaked and corruption-laden. He would be committing political suicide if he says he would fight corruption.”
