The state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ben Ugwuegbulam, said the deceased were robbing a residential building at Ebubu in the early hours of yesterday when the Police got a distress call and quickly rushed to the scene. The robbery suspects were arrested on a motor bike while trying to escape.

Although their first trial failed, the suspects tried to escape again as they were being driven to the Divisional Police station in the area. They jumped from the patrol vehicle, a situation that caused the police to open fire on them. They were later rushed to a hospital where they were confirmed dead.

The Police spokesman said a locally made revolver pistol with three rounds of live 9mm ammunition and one expended shell were recovered from them.
