Wukari Crisis: Perpetrators’ll Not Go Unpunished – Ag. Governor

Garba-UmarActors in the latest bloodbath in Wukari, Taraba State, will not go unpunished, according to the acting governor of Taraba State, Alhaji Garba Umar.

Umar, who said this in a state broadcast, noted that the spate of killings and destruction in Friday’s mayhem was more than that of last February.

While expressing shock that the latest crisis came only a day after the inauguration of the Judicial commission of enquiry to look into the Ibi/Wukari crises of November, 2012 and February, 2013 respectively, Umar said the state commissioner of police and other security operatives have relocated to Wukari as parts of efforts to restore law and order.

This is even as the state government imposed a 24 hour curfew in Wukari.

He urged the people of Wukari to remain calm and report any suspicious movements in their area to the security agents.
