Auchi Gully Erosion: Oshiomhole Cries To FG For Assistance

Adams-OshiomholeGov. Adams Oshiomhole of Edo on Monday appealed to the Federal Government to tackle the menace of gully erosion in Auchi, Etsako West Local Government Area of Edo.

Oshiomhole made the appeal in Auchi when Alhaji Abubakar Momoh, a member of the Federal House of Representatives for Etsako Federal Constituency, presented empowerment items to members of his constituency.

The governor said that in the interim, the state government was working with the World Bank to address the problem.

According to him, a design is being undertaken by the state government as requested by the World Bank to proffer solution to the menace.

The governor said, “The design will be paid for by the state government and after which it will be submitted to the World Bank.

“We are doing this to prevent what happened in the past when previous administrations at the federal level awarded contracts for it without any design.”

He said that the delay in addressing the erosion menace had not only rendered many homeless, but had led to loss of lives over the years.

The governor expressed fear that if the menace was not handled with utmost urgency, the erosion might lead to a major calamity. (NAN)
