The board of Nigeria Weightlifting Federation (NWF) has confirmed July 29 as the date set aside for the commencement of this year’s national championship billed for Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.

In a press release issued out by the chairman, media committee of the federation, George Aluo, the six-day championship, which begins on July 29 and ends August 3, serves as the build up to the African championship, billed for Lagos later this year.

The chairman also disclosed that invitations have been sent out to all participating states, adding that NWF is expecting a full house of all states.

He commended the governor of the host state for accepting the responsibility. Aluo expects the championship, which is the curtain raiser event of the new NWF board, to be a memorable one.
