After taking the backseat for a while amid all the drama playing out in the nation’s political stage, the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) will bounce back to the centre stage as the Governor Jonah Jang-led faction of the Forum summons an emergency meeting for tomorrow.

The meeting, slated to hold at the Maitama Secretariat of the NGF on Sunday, has on its agenda the issue of local government financial autonomy that was rejected by the Senate but passed by the House of Representatives.

The governors are also expected to deliberate on the dwindling revenue earnings from oil following massive oil theft in the Niger Delta where Nigeria has lost millions of foreign exchange to the activities of oil thieves.

A statement from Jang’s NGF’s secretariat simply said that, “The Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, Gov. Jonah Jang of Plateau State has summoned an emergency meeting of members of the forum.

“The meeting will be held on Sunday, August 11, 2013 at the NGF Secretariat, 2 Nana Close, off Erie Crescent, Nile Street, Maitama, Abuja at 7.30 PM. The agenda for the meeting are: Constitution Amendment. Thanks for your continuous cooperation.”
