Usain Bolt confirmed his supremacy in the sprint with yet another victory in the final race of 2013 in Brussels on Friday but insists the season had not been his best.
Bolt win the 100m at the IAAF Diamond League finale in Brussels in 9.80secs, ahead of Mike Rodgers of the United States (9.90secs) and fellow Jamaican Nesta Carter (9.94).
“I got injured at the start so it was not the perfect season or the best of my career,” he told BBC Sport.
“The best thing is I finished on top.”
Looking on to the coming athletic season, the Jamaican, who won three world title in Moscow last month, will have to work on his traditional slow start as the 27-year-old was again slow out of the blocks in Brussels, but powered past his rivals in the last 40 metres to victory.
“My start felt better but I need to work on it. I can definitely run faster,” added the 100m and 200m world record holder.
Triple world champion Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce won the women 100m in an impressive 10.72secs.
Bolt’s compatriot and teammate warren Weir secured the men’s 200m in a time of 19.87secs.
