The defender is considered a direct replacement for Godfrey Obaobona, who has moved to Turkish side Rizespor and so will not be eligible to feature in the country’s “B” team for next year’s African Championship (CHAN) in South Africa.

Coach Stephen Keshi has also ruled out Kwara United and former Nigeria U-20 star Ganiu Ogungbe, after his move to Cyprus recently.

Describing the invitation, “The People’s Elephant’s” coach Imama Amapakabo expects the Udoji to be a big hit at full international level.

“Chinedu (Udoji) is a good player any day anytime and he is good enough to get Super Eagles call up,” Amapakabo told MTNFootball.com.

The home-based Eagles will no their faith in the group round of the CHAN when the draw is made on Wednesday.

Nigeria qualified for the tournament, which kicks off on January 11 and ends February 1, 2014, for the first time after two failed attempts.
