The All Progressives Congress (APC) on Wednesday said it was not losing sleep over the decision by Senator Rufai Hanga and his faction in the defunct Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), to defect to the newly registered Peoples Democratic Movement (PDM).

The interim national publicity secretary of the APC, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, who made the party’s position known, said Senator Hanga, as a citizen, has the constitutional right of freedom of association so they wouldn’t begrudge him that.

“Senator Rufai Hanga like any other Nigerian has the constitutional right of freedom of association, therefore, APC is unperturbed over his defection to PDM,” he said.

Senator Hanga, who led members of his faction, represented by their national, state, local government and ward officers across the country to PDM at a ceremony in Abuja on Tuesday, accused some leaders of the defunct CPC of practicing politics of impunity and dictatorship.

But Mr. Lai in a counter-reaction to the allegation said, “If some men want to divorce their wives they always have some excuses.”
