Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State, Chief Felix Obuah has declared that the proposed national conference will create an opportunity for Nigerians to air their views on how they want the country to move forward.

Obuah, who made this known yesterday in an interview, was responding to a statement credited to Rivers State Governor, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi that the national conference will be of no effect.

He noted that the national conference was something Nigerians have been yearning for, stressing that the convocation of the conference has shown that President Goodluck Jonathan is a listening president.

He said, “This is to show that he is a listening president. His predecessors have not bordered to convoke a conference. This conference will help to shape the country. Each ethnic group will suggest how to move Nigeria forward. Nigerians will appreciate the conference, it is good for them and I want everybody to support it”.

“It is very unfortunate and disappointing that Governor Amaechi is against what majority of Nigerians and Niger Delta people are yearning for. I believe his comments are that of a ranting or a drowning man. It is a shame that the governor should reject it.”
