With 13 gold, 8 silver and 5 bronze, the team have contributed immensely to the state’s medal haul while four gold have been added in Swimming by Team Lagos.
More successes were recorded in the taekwondo event with three gold medals won in different categories.
The state also won a gold medal in the U-15 basketball event for secondary schools.
Anambra State has won the gold and silver medals in the high jump event for Primary School. Reigning champion, Bassey Chinazor, retained his title as compatriot Ekene Elias clinched the silver medal in the high jump category.
The state High jump coach, Osita Okagwu, speaking after the feat, expressed delights, adding it was an expected victory. He also called on the state government to increase the scholarship the champion is enjoying at the moment.
“I feel so happy because I had expected Chinaza to win he has done it before he is doing it again. Of course I have confidence in the boy and there was no threat whatsoever. He won it last year in the primary school games he won it there and this time around he said he was going to win it again and he did,” coach Okagwu said.
“He has scholarship to the University level but I will expect them to increase it so that he can study more.”
