World Cup Playoff: Dike, Called Up in Place of Injured Nwofor

Super Eagles coach Stephen Keshi has confirmed the replacement of the inured Uche Nwofor with Toronto FC striker Bright Dike in his 25-man list for next weekend’s 2014 World Cup playoff in Calabar.

Dike scored the goal which helped Nigeria down Catalonia in an international friendly in January but failed to make the final list for the Afcon 2013 in February.

“We are bringing him into the squad because we know what he is capable of doing and we believe he is fully fit to deliver,” Keshi was quoted by MTNFootball.com to have said.

Nigeria needs only a point to grab one of next summer’s World Cup ticket available for the continent after registering a 2-1 advantage over their Ethiopian opponents in the first leg played last month.

Saturday’s match is scheduled for the UJ Esuene Stadium in Calabar.
