Role Summary/Purpose: 

The OTR Lead Project Engineer is the technical liaison for the whole Engineering project organization with the local EPC/End User team, during the execution phase and then during installation & commissioning. He/she has the ownership of the technical coordination of the engineering disciplines and represents a reference point to the client for all technical matters related to interfaces and to the internal functions (Supply Chain, Project Management, Field Service, etc.).

Essential Responsibilities: 

He/she:

  • Identifies customer’s requirement (technical/products problems, execution issues) by a deep analysis of the contractual technical specifications and implements appropriate solutions;
  • Reviews and assesses information received from Sales Department needed to start the job;
  • Manages and schedules drawing list to be submitted to Customers (Vendor Document Register);
  • Attends customer meetings (kick off, coordination review, design reviews, HAZOP’s, close out, etc.);
  • Leads the engineering team to customer issue resolution;
  • Leads internal design activities and technical decisions;
  • Attends HAZOP’s, design review and other meetings with the client;
  • Coordinates internal Basic & Detailed Design Reviews with the engineering team;
  • Is responsible of the quality and timeliness of drawings/documents quality issued to customers during the job execution;
  • Ensures the proper understanding and communication of technical Customer needs inside the GE O&G organization;
  • Manages Bill of Material for the assigned project;
  • Leads initiative to reach quality target during job execution;
  • Attends quality meeting with customer and third parties involved, reviewing also project quality control plan;
  • Owns the planning of engineering activities and is responsible of the correct execution;
  • Manages and Controls the engineering hours allocated to the job;
  • Supports different Company Functions involved in the assigned job;
  • Reviews Test specifications, and attends machinery test with suppliers and or client;
  • Reviews Level 3 Non-conformities from site and coordinate for a timely resolution;
  • Supports Site activities (installation & commissioning), Warranty issues and Project Management team.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Master Degree in engineering discipline, Mechanical preferred;
  • 5 years significant experience in a multidisciplinary assignmentsin multidisciplinary assignments, in Oil & Gas environmentindustry, either as System Engineer, or Lead Design Eng.;
  • Solid Knowledge of the main components mounted in a power generation and compression plant and associated plant philosophy;
  • Sound Kknowledge of Machine Elements Mechanical Design, System & Auxiliaries design;
  • Solid team management & project fulfilment execution experience;
  • Clear thinking: Ability ability to synthesize and communicate effectively;
  • Able to work in a matrix organization;
  • EU Work Permit;
  • Willingness and ability to travel.
