Boko Haram: 38 Officers Lost To Insurgency – Nigerian Legion

About 38 members of the Nigerian Legion in Borno State, have been killed by the outlawed Boko Haram sect since the insurgency began about four years ago, State Chairman Staff Sgt. Mustapha Ali (rtd.), Wednesday said.

Ali, who made this known, when he paid a courtesy visit to the state Governor, Alhaji Kashim Shettima, in commemoration of the 2014 Armed Forces Remembrance Day, asked the governor to come to their aid by assisting them with land to build houses of their own.

He also asked the governor to provide them with vehicles for the smooth running of their activities.

Ali told the governor that though they may be old and out of service, their ears were open to hear the good things the governor had been doing to address the living standard of the masses.

He told the governor, who is also the grand patron of the legion that as people who served the country and retired, some of them have no house where they hope to live peaceful for the rest of their lives as well as official vehicles, which they could use for the day-to-day running of their office.

“Since you assume this office we have written to see you but there was no response. We, however, feel that since we were able to see you today, we should let you know about our problems also. We also want you to thank the General Officer Commanding (GOC) on our behalf for his consideration because he has given us free medical care at the military hospital, something we have not been enjoying in the past,” he said.
