Breaking News: Rivers Police Disrupt APC Gathering, Senator Hit By Bullet

The Senator representing Rivers Central Senatorial district, Magnus Abe has been hit by a rubber bullet shot by officers of the Rivers State police command.

unilag_asuu_police_08This was confirmed by his Personal Assistant and Information Officer, Honour Siranwo.

Senator Abe had led members of Save Rivers Movement, to a venue where they were to hold an inauguration and thanksgiving programme for the Obio-Akpor Chapter of the group.

Governor Rotimi Amaechi was expected at the event before the incident occurred.

In his reaction, Chief of Staff, Government House Port Harcourt, Tony Okocha said the police wants to militarize the state.

Okocha said the Save Rivers Movement had applied to the state police command.

According to him, the Supervising Minister of Education, Nyesom Wike, orchestrated the attack. He also alleged that he bribed the Police Commissioner in the state, Joseph Mbu to carry out the attack.

According to report, the police shot sporadically and released tear gas to disperse the crowd.

In the meantime, Senator Abe is lying critically in the hospital.

Mr. President you & your IG need to be focus, because all the problem that is happening in maiduguri Borno state and the neighboring states as Boko Haram was initiated by the POLICE as they Murdered Boko Haram leader “I called it murder because its an extra judicial killing” and there are they in Rivers again want to initiate another brand or similar with unborn name. Don’t push rivers youth to the wall as you did in Borno state that gave birth to today’s Boko Haram, use your head. AS FOR SENATOR MAGNUS ABE: u are a senator that knows well the laws of this country; is your constitutional right to have FREEDOM OF ASSOCIATION no one can interrupt you but since they did, please take police organization to court for damage & breached of your right.
