CHAN 2014: Iorfa Tips Eagles to Perform Despite Key Absences.

Lobi Stars Vice Chairman and ex-Nigeria international Dominic Iorfa has backed the Super Eagles team B to prove their mettle in their debut appearance at the African Nations Championship (CHAN) despite the absence of some key players.

Iorfa, who spoke with Daily Trust in a telephone interview, noted that the Coach Stephen Keshi-led team would miss the services of Sunday Mba, who left for France during the course of the side’s ongoing camp, and Kano Pillars’ striker Gambo Mohammed, who is nursing a hamstring injury- amongst other notable players.

He however stressed that those included in Keshi’s final 23-man list has the capability to ensure another victory for the African champions on South African soil again.

“Looking at the list of the players picked by Keshi for the African Championship, Nigeria has a team that can win the trophy in South Africa. What the players need to do is to build confidence in themselves, play as a team and the sky will be their limit. It is a team of gifted players from the goalkeeping position, defence, midfield and attack; they are also blessed with experienced coaching staff, so I will be surprised if they fail to perform in South Africa,” Iorfa said.

The 45-year-old was capped four times at international level and played for clubs in England, Turkey and Belgium.

Nigeria’s home-based Eagles start their campaign against Mali on January 11 in Cape Town.
