Ex-Oyo Gov Alao-Akala’s Posters Flood Ibadan

akalaPosters bearing the portrait of former Governor of Oyo State, Chief Adebayo Alao-Akala and Seyi Makinde surfaced in strategic places in Ibadan, the state capital on Friday.

Both politicians are members of the Peoples Democratic Party.

While Alao-Akala’s posters do not indicate the position he is vying for in 2015, Makinde’s posters have ‘Oyo Guber 2015’ boldly emblazoned on them.

The posters were prominently displayed along University of Ibadan/Ojoo Road, Sango, Secretariat Road and PDP secretariat on Queen Elizabeth road.

A source close to Makinde’s camp, Akeem Azeez, affirmed that the posters actually belonged to the young politician, adding that the purpose of pasting them was to create publicity for the candidature of Makinde come 2015.

He said, “We have commenced the awareness campaign to let the people of the state know that Makinde will vie for the governorship position in the coming election. It is also a strategy to promote PDP”.

It was learnt that after series of meeting in Ibadan and Ogbomoso, Alao-Akala had been taking concrete steps to bring together aggrieved PDP members, which resulted in a town hall meeting held at Plaza de Aruna in Oyo last month.

The ex-governor, who is till eligible to contest the state governorship election after he was defeated by the incumbent, was said to have met with some of the members from Oyo Federal Constituency, comprising Afijio, Atiba, Oyo-East and Oyo-West.

However, it is not yet known which position Alao-Akala would contest in the coming general elections.
