Gombe Targets N6.3bn IGR In 2014

The Gombe State Government says it will generate N6.3 billion as internally generated revenue in 2014.

The Commissioner for Finance, Alhaji Mohammadu Hassan, made this known when he briefed newsmen on the 2014 budget in Gombe on Friday.

Hassan said the figure represent 12.44 per cent as against the N5.6 billion, representing 11.40 per cent, generated 2013.

According to him, the state executive council has approved the establishment of a revenue unit in the Budget Office to track all revenues accruing to the state.

He said the office would also be empowered to undertake physical inspection of the project, programmes to ensure value for money.

“In the same vein, the Board of Internal Revenue is also in the process of being restructured in addition to upgrading and automating its collection mechanism.

“It will fully commence the use of auto registration in the collection of all road taxes.

“It will mandate the collecting banks to capture tax payments on a pay direct and invoke penalty clause on any collecting bank that fails to comply with the guidelines issued by the boards.
