Nyako Escapes Boko Haram Attack In Adamawa

Hours after criticising the presidency over the way it had handled insurgency in North east Nigeria, Governor Murtala Nyako of Adamawa State escaped Boko Haram attack when he visited Shuwa, Madagali local government area to commiserate with the residents who were attacked by gunmen suspected to be members of sect.

Eyewitnesses said unknown gunmen fired shots into the air while the governor was addressing the victims and displaced persons of Wednesday attack in Madagali and Michika local governments.

The source told Thisday that moments after the Governor had set out to address the people, two gunmen in Military uniform emerged from nowhere and shot twice into the air; creating confusion in the area. Nyako’s security aides swiftly smuggled him out for safety.

It was learnt that the gunmen shot into the air to alert the governor and his men that members of Boko Haram were coming to attack them.
