Having taken special notice of reports of the Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria and other investigating bodies, which indicate clearly that Mallam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi’s tenure has been characterized by various acts of financial recklessness and misconduct which are inconsistent with the administration’s vision of a Central Bank propelled by the core values of
focused economic management, prudence, transparency and financial discipline;
Being also deeply concerned about far-reaching irregularities under Mallam Sanusi’s watch which have distracted the Central Bank away from the pursuit and achievement of its statutory mandate; and
Being determined to urgently re-position the Central Bank of Nigeria for greater efficiency,
respect for due process and accountability, President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan has ordered
the immediate suspension of Mallam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi from the Office of Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria.

President Jonathan has further ordered that Mallam Sanusi should hand over to the most senior Deputy Governor of the CBN, Dr Sarah Alade who will serve as Acting Governor until the conclusion of on-going investigations into breaches of enabling laws, due process and mandate of the CBN.

The President expects that as Acting Governor of the Central Bank, Dr. Alade will focus on the core mandate of the Bank and conduct its affairs with greater professionalism, prudence and propriety to restore domestic and international confidence in the country’s apex bank.

The Federal Government of Nigeria reassures all stakeholders in Nigeria’s financial and monetary system that this decision has been taken in absolute good faith, in the overall interest of theNigerian economy and in accordance with our laws and due process.

  7. The CBN governor did nothing wrong but he was prosecuted for he was revealing the truth behind the bad system of government in our country Nigeria and I find it very funny to see many Nigerians who are happy seen that mr president sack the man of justice to cover his evil intention towards his ruling, mr lamido I truly support the truth you revealed in the bad system of government trying to over crowd our nation Nigeria. Come to think of this why it is now that mr president is removing the aviation minister when he knows that removing the CBN governor will result To him suspected of the fraud she did, but God knows the truth behind the evil mr president who is just a smooth killer. But he will live to regret his actions for the wages if sins is death.

  8. We all must accept the fact that the Nigeria’s continuous existence is hinged on justice.Who says that lamido cannot fall foul of the law?It is important we understand that lamido cannot claim purity this long while the government which he served is considered dirty and irredeemable.It is either lamido is a hypocrite or immoral or a fraudster who simply doesn’t know when the game is up! The deeds of lamido are in black and white,we must review them before making emotional statements revealing our ignorance and lack of depth.He who comes to justice must come with a clean hand.

  9. You all talk about 20m dollas scandal revealed by sanusi. I tink if sanusi is actually upstimistic in his exertions, dis is an opportunity to fight back. Someone who left his Banking policies n was into full politics, awarding contracts any how he likes,@ Adejoh out of d numerous contracts n donations made by sanusi, hW many went to other geo political zones if not core north. Sanusi is a wolf in sheep clothing, let’s see hw he justify himself out of d EFCC’s net dis tym that all his financial manipulations will be unfolded. God bless GEJ. God bless our leaders n nigeria.

  10. Not all Nigerians understand those big grammers that was used to state Sanusi’s crime.Moreover,when Sanusi was making reforms that affected the masses nobody put him on hold then like the president stated but now that he has exposed the missing $20b,the president is been corrupt enough to suspend him.Am very sure the president knows something
