Shooting Stars suffered their first defeat in the Nigeria National League (NNL) season, in Thursday’s 2-0 loss to Stationery Stores.

Onwrebe Raphael opened scoring for Stores in the 37th minute with a diving header before Festus Ajah doubled the hosts’ lead nine minutes after the hour mark.

Stores got off to an impressive start and Francis Edem should have placed them in the ascendancy, 18 minutes from kick-off, but his effort from twelve yards crashed against the woodwork, after Samuel Akinbinu was brought down in the area.

It took 3SC 15 minutes to have a first shot at goal as Yemi Adeyeye’s weak shot was saved by Oguntoye Adeniyi in goal for home team, in the wake of Ajah, Nwaiwu Chinonso and Ogbenovo Ezeji’s failed attempt to register a goal for Stores.

Yomi Akinsade’s header missed target by a whisker in the 22nd minute as the hosts’ proded for an opener.

Oghenovo Uzezi fired wide from inside the box in the 49th minute.

Eweje Oladele’s 57th minute volley was saved by Stores goalkeeper. Two minutes later, Ajah failed to double Stores lead when he shot wide from inside the 3SC vital area after coming face-to-face with 3SC goalkeeper Akande.
