Customs Intercept Concealed Ammunition In Oyo

The Oyo/Osun State Command of the Nigeria Customs has made a seizure of 30,000 pieces of ammunition and 6,250 cartridges concealed in 20 cartons.

The Area Comptroller of the command, Richard Oteri revealed that the command’s anti-smuggling outfit led by Sc Okoi intercepted the ammunition cleverly concealed in a Toyota Hiace bus with registration number KW 286 SHH along the Saki-Ago axis of Oyo State in the early hours of Monday, March 10. He added that the arms were cleverly packed with yam tubers and bags of cassava flour.

“The driver of the bus, Abdulraheem Adegoke who is the main suspect is currently under investigation,” Oteri said.

He restated the command’s determination to build on its recent success saying, “we will continue to draw the robust intelligence strategy which has been inculcated in us in several capacity building courses that we have attended on border security”.

Oteri therefore warned those who engage in smuggling of unwholesome goods that the command is more determined than ever to make Oyo and Osun states secure.
