Orji Unveils Easter ‘Cantata’ Carnival In Umuahia

Theodore OrjiGov. Theodore Orji of Abia on Friday unveiled the first Abia Easter Carnival tagged Cantata.

The carnival, scheduled to begin on April 21, will take place in the state capital.

Speaking during the ceremony, Orji said the event would be an opportunity to showcase the rich cultural heritage of the state.

“The carnival will not focus entirely on merriment but will feature social integration and the projection of investment opportunities that abound in Abia”, he said.

Earlier, the Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Mr Onwuka Uzoma, said that carnivals played important roles in the realisation of societal development.

Uzoma said the state government intended to use the Easter Carnival to stimulate socio-economic growth in the state.

The commissioner said he was confident that the government and people of Abia would enjoy the benefits the carnival would yield in various sectors of the economy.

Chief David Onuoha, the Chief Executive Officer of Bourdex Group, the consulting firm organising the event, said the carnival was an enterprise which would develop Abia’s tourism sub-sector.

Onuoha commended the state government for evolving and actualising progressive projects and ideas for the growth of the state. (NAN)
