A 78-year-old pensioner woke up in a body bag as he was mistaken for a corpse has died two weeks after his nightmare ordeal.

Farmer Walter Williams became an unlikely celebrity after undertakers in Mississippi noticed he started to move – just hours before he was to be embalmed.

It turns out he was actually still alive, it is thought his missing pulse could have been due to a broken pacemaker.

Williams’s nephew Eddie Hester said that this time his uncle gone forever.

It was a two week miracle for the whole family and they enjoyed every minute being with him.

It’s became known that Mr Williams died from natural causes.

Back on February 27, the grandfather of 15 had been taken to a hospice because of congestive heart failure.

He was declared dead because neither the coroner or nurses could detect a pulse.

Shortly afterwards, he was taken to at Porter and Sons Funeral Home in a body bag.

Just before he was to be embalmed, the method used to stall decomposition for public display at a funeral or wake, he began to stir.

Paramedics rushed Mr Williams to hospital and doctors theorised that a concoction of medication or a broken pacemaker could have caused his vital signs to disappear.
