Gunmen Kill Monarch, Vigilante Chief In Kogi

Unknown gunmen on Tuesday night invaded

The palace of the Ojikpada Egume in Dekina Local Government area of Kogi State was Tuesday night invaded by unknown gunmen, who killed the traditional ruler, Chief Isah Edimeh and one other vigilante leader in the area, Mohammed Wada.

State Commissioner of Police, Sa’idu Madawaki confirmed the incident on Wednesday, saying the killers who struck around 9 pm, dragged Edime; a former Peoples Democratic Party gubernatorial aspirant in the state, to the road before shooting him.

The Commissioner disclosed that Edime, a former Director of FRCN, had last year reported to the police of a threat to his life; a case file Madawaki said he was about to re-open before the assassins took the monarch’s life.

“It is confirmed. The case is still under investigation. The man had come to report about a case of threat to his life in 2013. I came to know about it today. Because I was not the CP then.

“He was shot. I saw signs of blood, there was blood stain. They took him from the village and took him near the road. When they came they were speaking Igalla language.” Madawaki stressed.

The gunmen were said to have also attacked the house of the head of the village vigilante group, Mohammed Wada, killing him while he was observing his night prayer.

  1. Frm d statement of d CP, dat d man had made a complain abt threats to his life bt he: d CP, did nt see d file because he was nt d CP den nd dat he only saw d file whn d man was killed, is a pointer. When u are assigned a duty as a public servant, won’t u as a reasonable man go through almost all d records nd files in ur office so u can ascertain where to start, continr nd wht to do? Again, d statement of d CP dat d gun men were speaking Igala suggest dat he saw d gun men, he heard dem speaking d language bt failed to knw their mission. Again, d CP said d dead man made d report of threats to his life in 2013 nd dis is 2014 meaning dat, had d CP adopted every reasonable care expected of a man in such position dis death would hv been aborted. Mr CP, if u are nt a contributor to dis menace, den u are roasting in ignorance nd monumental negligence.

  2. Mr CP, pple like u are disgrace to this our beluv country. Frm ur statements, i must conclude dat u acquired dis office politically nt by merit. Pls my felow naija do nt giv positn by certificates obtain, connection, or money bt through d real id of a person

  3. I think this CP is psychologically demented.
His statements are contradictory, unethical, suspicious n warrants his arrest. His statements points @ him as an accomplice of d crime; more for grossful negligence of duty….mteeew
