Kogi Seeks FG’s Support For Erosion Control

Kogi State Governor Idris Wada has solicited the support of the Federal Government towards controlling the erosion and other environmental degradation of some areas of the state.

The governor made the call yesterday at the closing ceremony of the 2014 National Environmental Sanitation Day held in Lokoja, with the theme: “My Environment, My Health”; organized by the Federal Ministry of Environment in collaboration with Kogi State Government.

Wada also called on the Federal Ministry of Environment to assist the state in constructing shoreline structures along Kabawa and Koton karfe area of the state.

The Governor, who disclosed that the effect of climate change, occasioned by poor sanitation habits, is fast catching up with the nation, described Kogi State as worst hit by climate change due to its closeness to the shoreline.
