Nasarawa APC Accuses Maku, Other PDP Chieftains Of Masterminding Al-Makura’s Impeachment

Al-MakuraThe Nasarawa State chapter of All Progressives Congress (APC), has accused Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) elders from the state of masterminding the impeachment plot against Governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura, saying the move is occasioned by the party’s fear of facing Al-Makura at next year’s election.

This position was made known in a press statement signed by the state chairman of APC, Mr. Philip Shekwo, after the executive committee meeting of the party in Lafia, the Nasarawa State capital yesterday.

The party was reacting to advertorials recently published in some national dailies in which chieftains of the PDP expressed their support for the ongoing impeachment plot by the PDP-dominated Nasarawa State House of Assembly against the governor.

The statement accused the PDP chieftains, who were signatories in the advertorial, among whom were the Information Minister, Mr. Labaran Maku; Amb. Philip Azige, Prof. Onje Gye-Wado, of being the “dramatis personae that bled the state to a near comatose” pointing out that their action in masterminding the impeachment “speaks volumes of their ignoble, despicable and rejected desires for the return to years of arrested development”.

The statement continues: “Their position on the saga is understandable given their disgraceful rejection by the people of Nasarawa State in 2011.

“Now that all their attempts to distract Governor Umaru Al-Makura Administration through legislative strangulation ,media tirades using cognomens, foisting crisis, among other stratagems, have failed, they have now opted for their last diabolic weapon; impeachment”, it reads further.
