Oshiomhole Inaugurates Boards Of Four State Agencies, Calls For Quality Service Delivery

Adams OshiomholeGovernor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State, on Wednesday charged public servants in state-owned agencies to collaborate with their various units to render quality services to people of the state.

He gave the directive when he inaugurated four boards under the state ministries of environment, education and tourism in Benin City, with a charge to collaborate with Management of the agencies for optimum result.

The inaugurated boards include the Waste Management Board, headed by Mrs. Elizabeth Ighodaro; Technical and Vocational Education Board, led by Lady Tina Agbara; while the Tourism Board and Environmental Committee are chaired by Mrs. Jane Osagie and Comrade Murktar Yusuf Osagie respectively.

The governor called for synergy between the management and the board to achieve optimum results because the role of the latter was different from the role of the former.

“Management has responsibilities for day-to-day running under the guidelines that are formulated by the boards.

“In some cases, there are some enabling laws that set up these bodies and of course, whatever you want to do must be done in conformity with the provisions of the law”, the governor said.

Oshiomhole described the management team as seasoned professionals with responsibilities, special skills and knowledge to manage and ensure that the organization achieved its objectives.

He recalled that there had been friction in the past between members of both the management and board of state agencies in the course of their duties, adding that such tensions were “completely unnecessary”.

Oshiomhole said, “So I trust that you will all realise that regardless of your level, all of us here including myself are all working for the same principal, who are the people of Edo State.

“We are all accountable to the Edo People.

“In discharging your duties, ensure that you are adding value to the quality of life of Edo people because that is the bottom line.

“Of course you know that our Party is founded on the principles of popular participation.

“Other people may boast of their capacity to manipulate elections, we boast of our capacity to deliver on our mandate, deliver on public welfare and infrastructure”.
