UNN Lecturer Commits Suicide

A lecturer at the Faculty of Law, University of Nigeria, Enugu campus, Dr Bede Opata last weekend committed suicide over yet to be ascertained reasons, Thisday reports.

The deceased lecturer hailed from Nsukka area of Enugu state and showed no sign of depression prior to the unimaginable act. In fact, he had registered to attend Telecommunications Policy & Regulation Institute Seminar slated for Washington DC, USA between December 4-5, 2014.

According to sources at the university, the deceased had taken his life in his apartment within the town on Saturday night but his body was discovered on Sunday.

The 38-year old Opata who held a Doctorate Degree in Law was said to have been employed as a lecturer in the university in 2011.

Public Relations Officer of Enugu State Police Command, Ebere Amaraizu could not be reached to confirm the incident as at the time of filing this report.
