Ebola: Obanikoro Hails Fashola, FG

Babatunde FasholaThe Minister of State for Defence, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro has applauded the Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Fashola (SAN) for the state’s responsiveness and collaboration with the Federal Government in tackling the Ebola Virus Disease outbreak since it was first reported in July.

Obanikoro, who hails from Lagos, also lauded the commitment of the Federal Government in curbing the spread of the Ebola virus. This he noted is evident in President Goodluck Jonathan’s N1.9bn Ebola intervention fund, which is aside Wednesday’s Federal Executive Council’s (FEC’s) approval of N200 million to support the Lagos State Government to contain the EVD.

Senator Obanikoro expressed his profound sympathy to the families of those who were infected by the Ebola Virus Disease especially the medical personnel who paid the supreme price fighting to keep infected victims alive.

Four other people, including Dr Stella Ameyo Adadevoh, a senior consultant physician and Endocrinologist at the First Consultants Hospital, Lagos, where the late Liberian-American, Patrick Sawyer was diagnosed with the disease, have died.

“At a time like this when our shared humanity as Nigerians is faced with the challenge of the Ebola scourge, Senator Obanikoro expresses strong faith in the ability of Lagos State Government and the Federal Government to work together in containing Ebola and giving Lagosians in particular and Nigerians in general, the hope of an Ebola free society”, a statement issued by the minister’s media aide said.
