EPL Update: Swansea Joint-Top Halfway Through 2nd Round

Swansea completed their second win of the new season at home to Burnley on Saturday.

Nathan Dyer scored his first goal of the campaign to help the Welsh outfit record six points from a possible six.

Dyer opened scoring on 23 minutes after Wilftied Bony and Gylfi Sigurdsson had failed in their attempt early on.

He latched on to Sigurdsson’s through ball, scampered his way into the penalty area before delivering a low shot into the net.

Lukas Jutkiewicz and David Jones almost drew the visitors level, but the former headed slightly over after the hour mark and the latter’s effort was palmed wide by Polish goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski late on.

The hosts, who sealed victory away at Manchester United last weekend, withstood the pressure to draw level on points with Chelsea at the summit of the league standings.

Burnley are yet to record a point in the 8-day-old championship and will have to go back to the drawing board ahead of their next game.
