EXCLUSIVE: Arsenal not preparing for a new striker

Arsenal are unlikely to recruit a new striker in the current transfer window, despite anticipating a second scan from their top forward Olivier Giroud, that could rule the player out of action for several months. Information Nigeria understands.

The North London club are not interested in a targetman, though the manager could comb the loan market for a new hitman.

Arsene Wenger plans to use his available options which include: Lukas Podolski, Joel Campbell, Yaya Sanogo and Theo Walcott.

With Walcott set to return to action next month, it leaves the Frenchman with the remaining trio for now.

Campbell while on loan was used mainly out wide, and Yaya Sanogo is yet to score in a competitive match for the club, aside in the Emirates cup. Lukas Podolski seems the ideal candidate for the main striker berth, yet, when the 29-year old was used in the position last season, he was barely decisive.

Giroud came off the bench to score a mouth-watering equalizer at Goodison park last weekend, but the former Montelliper striker picked up an unfortunate injury in the dying seconds of the encounter.
