I See Buhari, Tinubu, Becoming Members Of PDP, Says Smart Adeyemi

smart adeyemiThe Senator representing Kogi West Senatorial District, Smart Adeyemi, yesterday told the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to be prepared to receive prominent leaders of the All Progressives Congress, who will soon defect to the ruling party once the presidential convention of the opposition party has been concluded.

He spoke during a visit to the national chairman of the PDP, Alhaji Adamu Mu’azu at the party’s secretariat in Abuja.

According to the Senate Committee Chairman on FCT, with the current events in the polity, former Head of State, General Muhammadu Buhari, former governor of Lagos State, Bola Tinubu among others would soon join the PDP.

“Some of the people who left our party have started coming back, I have a vision, I have a dream that not quite long and I know that people like [Muhammadu] Buhari will become members of the PDP, Buhari will come back, Asiwaju [Bola Tinubu] will come back, [Rabiu] Kwankwaso will come back, all of them will come back”, he said.

“What binds them together is just the convention. When the convention of the APC is held, majority of those in the APC will leave and return to the PDP. They left because of their individual ambition”, he added.

On the clamor for President Goodluck Jonathan to declare his second term ambition, Adeyemi wondered why such people were so much in hurry to know when he would declare.

He said there was no way the president would declare when the opposition has yet to present a formidable challenger.

“People are calling for President Jonathan to declare for 2015 and I ask where are his opponents? PDP should not bother about Jonathan’s declaration, he is already cruising to victory”, he added.

While he pleaded with the PDP national chairman to accommodate the APC chieftains when they defect, he, however, noted that opposition was needed in the country.

But he cautioned that such opposition must be for the progress of the country and must help to entrench democracy.

He also flayed the practice where incumbent governors fly around in private jets while there is unemployment in the polity.

He charged such governors to sell the jets and use the proceeds to create jobs.‎ He, however, refused to name such governors.
