Obasanjo, Jonathan Meet On Ending Boko Haram Insurgency

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo and President Goodluck Jonathan today held a closed-door meeting where they were believed to have discussed the incessant Boko Haram attacks in the country among other security challenges.

The meeting was reportedly held in Abuja in the early hours of Wednesday as the two leaders reportedly examined the level of insecurity in the country, reports Vanguard.

Obasanjo was said to have been invited by President Jonathan to the Presidential villa for the meeting, coming days after Obasanjo accused the Jonathan administration of destroying Nigeria’s economy so much that the middle class was fizzling out like in the days of late dictator, General Sani Abacha,

Obasanjo later confirmed the meeting with Jonathan to newsmen, saying it was purely on security matters.

“…I can confirm that I met with Mr. President on his invitation. In fact, he had wanted to come down to Abeokuta, but as a sign of respect to the Office of the President, I had to go. We had discussion on the country’s security issues and that is all,” the former president disclosed.

He expressed appreciation over President Jonathan’s invitation and promised that he would continue to make himself available on national issues in the interest of peace and progress of the country.

  1. obj shouldn’t have come to Abuja, he should hv remain in Ogun to wait 4 Gej to visit him. senseless old man who is trading with the wicked to sow seed of hatred bw the masses and their leaders for his greed. Obj GOD is watching You.

  2. Who is this Zikz that does not have respect for elders, not to talk of respect for a Former President and Head of State? It is a sign of lack of home training or that he refused to be trained on manners and decorum. The Former President cannot jump to Abuja without being invited for the fact that he has self respect as elderstatesman not only in Nigeria but in the African continent. He is like a father to President Goodluck Jonathan and was instrumental to GEJ becoming a Vice President and subsequently President in Nigeria. Despite that, he did well to honour the invitation as a mark of respect for the Office of the President of Nigeria. To call General Olusegun Obasanjo Rtd a senseless old man is the height of stupidity and irresponsibility on the part of this Zikz. He deserves to be thorougly whiiped while lying prostrate on the ground! Crazy fool!
