Glo Premier League: Leading Trio Lose as Wolves Climb 4th

The Top 3 teams on the Glo Premier League log remained unchanged after Match Day 28, despite loses to leaders Kano Pillars, second-placed Nasarawa United and Enyimba International, who retained their third position as well.

Bayelsa United needed to bounce right back from last weekend’s disappointment at Enyimba to keep their top-flight survival hopes alive and so they did, against an ambitious Kano Pillars bidding for a third successive title.

Goals from Joseph Eghaervba and super-sub Oghogho Oduokpe sealed three points for the ‘Restoration Boys’ at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin.

Eghaervba opened scoring on 15 minutes, firing home from the centre of the box- his fourth goal of the Glo Premier League season.

Oduokpe doubled Bayelsa’s lead in the 68th minute, when he tapped home a cross from close range.

The win helped Bayelsa move out of the drop zone to 15th on the log with 36 points from 28 games.

Nasarawa United and Enyimba were both edged by same 1-0 margin at Lobi Stars and Gombe United.

Gbolahan Salami hit brace as Warri Wolves leapfrogged Dolphins on the standings after a 3-1 win.

Akwa United claimed a 2-0 win over Giwa FC at the Uyo Township Satdium. Enugu rangers held Abia Warriors to a goalless draw in Umuahia and Sunshine Stars forced relegation battlers FC Taraba to a 2-2 draw.

Previously high flying Kaduna United were thrashed 2-0 by hosts Sharks.
