Glo Premier League: Title Chasers Pegged, Bayelsa Claim Derby

Kano Pillars, Nasarawa United and Enyimba all dropped points on the road, as the ‘Restoration Boys’ topped the Bayelsa derby in Benin.

The Glo Premier League resumed on Wednesday bringing an end to over two weeks of football inaction in the country.

Dolphins failed to make the best of the midweek resumption, which turned out unfavourable for league title-chasing teams, losing 2-1 at Enugu Rangers.

Crown FC made case for their second half revival with an emphatic 3-0 win over Nasarawa United at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Ibadan.

Bodes Daniel curled home a superb free-kick on 28 minutes to get the hosts ahead while efforts from Harrison Egbune and Francis Nnedum settled the contest before the hour mark.

Nasarawa yet trail leaders Pillars by 3 points with on 41, while Crown moved up to 18th on the league standings with 30 points.

The champions spilled a half-time lead to draw 1-1 with Taraba FC at the Jolly Nyame Stadium in Jalingo.

A solitary Kufre Ebong goal handed Enyimba their first defeat in 6 games in Uyo.

Bayelsa United claimed the battle of relegation strugglers at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium courtesy of Frank Egharevba’s hat-trick in the day’s early kick-off.

There were also wins for Heartland, Sharks, Warri Wolves and Abia Warriors as Lobi Stars played out a goalless draw with El-Kanemi Warriors.
