IBB’s Health Not Deteriorating – Aide

IBBFormer military President, General Ibrahim Babangida (retd), has extended his medical trip to Germany by two weeks, one of his aides disclosed on Sunday.

Gen. Babangida, who was billed to return yesterday, extended his stay by two weeks on the orders of his doctors, to enable him have enough rest, one of his aides said in Minna, the Niger State capital last night.

IBB, as he is fondly called by admirers, departed the country on September 6 accompanied by his second son, Aminu, for a routine medical checkup for a nagging back ache, it was learnt.

The aide, however, dispelled reports circulated in the social media that the health of the former military leader has deteriorated.

He said: “It is true that oga (IBB) has postponed his return date from Germany. He was expected (yesterday) but we learnt his doctors asked him to stay behind for some observation.

“Since he left, for a routine two weeks medical checkup we have been in regular contact with him. We speak with him everyday. He is in good frame of mind and in good health”.

In response to an inquiry that doctors might have extended IBB’s stay because of his deteriorating condition, the aide said: “We are in constant touch with him. His health is not failing. He was only asked to rest formore days. Oga is in good health”.
