Oshiomhole Cautions Against Politicising Security, Education

Adams OshiomholeEdo State Governor, Adams Oshiomhole, has cautioned politicians against politicising education in the country, urging stakeholders in the sector to provide the enabling environment for its growth.

Oshiomhole made the remark at the inauguration of the newly reconstructed Army Children’s School at Isihor near Benin on Friday.

He said it was the responsibility of all to ensure that an enabling environment was provided for children to pursue their dreams of good education.

The governor said every other issue in the polity could be politicised, education and security issues should not to be politicised.

Oshiomhole added that his government decided to assist the military in upgrading the infrastructure in the school so as to benefit from the “red roof revolution” of his administration.

He urged the teachers to discharge their responsibilities to the children to justify the upgrade of the school.

He said the enabling environment provided by his government to students in the state accounted for the the third place of the state in the recent West Africa Examination Council result.

He expressed optimism that the state would be second to none in 2015 with its encouraging performance in 2014.

President of the Nigeria Army Officers Wives Association, Mrs Felly Minimah, described the Edo State Government intervention as one of the government quick impact projects.
