Giwa to Play Next 3 Home League Games in Abuja

Giwa FC has been banished to Abuja for their next three home league games, the League Management Company (LMC) announced on Tuesday.

The punishment is as a result of crowd disturbance during a Match Day 33 encounter against Sharks at the Rwang Pam Stadium in Jos. The inconclusive match will now be played in full at the Fifa Goal Project in Abuja on a later date.

“The committee had heard that the match was played under an atmosphere of intimidation and fear leading to the match being disrupted in the 68th minute when unidentified fans hauled missiles onto the field of play injuring the Match Referee and a Sharks player, Gabriel Olalekan, after Giwa was awarded a penalty,” read a statement on lmc-ng.org.
