Petroleum Minister Allison-Madueke’s Sister Kidnapped In Port Harcourt

The sister of Petroleum Minister Diezani Alison-Madueke has been kidnapped in Port Harcourt, police said Friday.

Osio Agama was kidnapped at gunpoint on Tuesday night, as she approached her car, according to the State police spokesman Ahmad Muhammad.

According to him, police are at a loss as to why the woman was abducted and “were not aware if any ransom demand had been made”.

Nigeria’s oil-producing Niger Delta region has seen waves of ransom kidnappings in recent years, with the peace expected after government offered amnesty to militants in the region far from achieved.

The abduction is believed to have been targeted at Allison-Madueke, who heads Nigeria’s cash cow, the oil and gas sector.

Although, top Nigerians who have fallen victims to abduction of relatives have never disclosed paying ransom, sources say kidnappers usually request for ransom before releasing their victims.

Investigation is said to have commenced into the abduction of the Agama.
