Bauchi: Police Arrest Teacher For Extorting Money By Claiming To Be A Terrorist

A 36-year-old teacher, identified as Auwal Adamu, has been arrested by men of the Bauchi State Police Command for allegedly intimidating and extorting money from residents in the state by threatening to kill them.

According to the State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Haruna Mohammed, Adamu would threaten residents under the pretext of belonging to a terrorist group and make they pay huge sums to ensure their safety.

“On November 12, operatives attached to Bauchi Police command arrested one Auwal Adamu, popularly called GOSKA,” DSP Mohammed told newsmen yesterday in Bauchi.

“The suspect, who teaches at Jahun Primary School in Bauchi, usually extort money from his victims by threatening to eliminate them under the pretext of belonging to a terrorist group,” he said.

“So far, the suspect has extorted huge amount of money from prominent personalities in Bauchi State who keep money at a designated location.”

Mohammed said the suspect would be charged to court as soon as the police conclude investigation into the matter.
